Cardiac CT angiography is a non-invasive outpatient procedure that uses a CT scanner and a small injection of iodine-based contrast dye administered through a vein in the arm. It does not require hospital admission and takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. The radiation dose is low and comparable to a conventional chest CT. Most patients can leave the facility within an hour of the scan. You will be asked about any kidney problems or iodine allergies beforehand, as these are the main contraindications for the contrast agent.
